On behalf of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, we are honoured to announce that Dr. Andrea Pusic will be our Hoyle-Campbell Visiting Professor in 2018. Dr. Pusic is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Her main research interest lies in assessing health-related quality of life among oncology patients With grant support from the Plastic Surgery Foundation, she and a team of international collaborators developed the BREAST-Q, a tool to measure women’s satisfaction with the outcome of breast reconstruction. In 2007, she was awarded the Clinical Research Recognition Award by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. She is chair of that organization’s clinical trial committee, co-primary investigator of the National Breast Implant Registry and co-primary investigator of the Mastectomy Reconstruction Outcome Consortium study.
Andrea completed her medical degree at the University of Calgary and did her general surgery residency at Dalhousie University as well as her plastic surgery residency at McGill University. Following this, she completed her fellowship training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Pusic is Director of MSK’s Patient-Reported Outcomes and Surgical Experience (PROSE) program and Principal Investigator of a study funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) that examines how electronic patient-reporting of symptoms may improve care. She is also co-Principal Investigator of the National Breast Implant Registry (in collaboration with FDA), co-Principal Investigator of the Mastectomy Reconstruction Outcomes Consortium (R01-CA-152192-01-A1) and President-Elect of the Plastic Surgery Foundation. She is past Vice-President of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a past board member of the International Society of Quality of Life.
Her clinical expertise includes Breast Reconstruction (with microvascular flaps, implants including direct to implant, fat grafting); Pelvic and Vaginal Reconstruction; Extremity Reconstruction; Pediatric Cancer Reconstruction.
On Thursday, February 1st, 2018 the Visiting Professor will meet with the senior residents only. Friday, February 2nd, 2018 will mark the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Research Symposium, which will be open to all faculty, residents, fellows and alumni.
