The rotation at The Hospital for Sick Children is traditionally reserved for the PGY-3 residents and allows them an opportunity to cover all aspects of Pediatric Plastic Surgery over a 4-month period.

There are 7 FTE staff in the Division and residents spend time under the supervision of each one. The Plastic Surgery service occupies 14 beds on 8C which includes the burn unit. Residents spend a month at a time on 4 separate services covering craniofacial, cleft lip and palate, upper extremity/peripheral nerve/obstetrical brachial plexus palsy, burns and microsurgery. Two full ORs and a clinic with 1 to 2 staff are held each day. Clinical duties involve 1 in 3 call with coverage of the Emergency Department and providing a consultation service for the hospital and surrounding NICU’s. There are 5 clinical fellows associated with the division that work with the staff and residents work in a complementary manner with the fellows. Operative experience is obtained in a supervised manner.
