All aspects of paediatric plastic surgical diseases are seen, including congenital hand, facial paralysis, brachial plexus, congenital nevi, burns, microtia, cleft, vascular anomalies, tumor related conditions, developmental, oncologic and post-traumatic deformities. Each year, three or four fellowships are offered. The fellow is expected to participate in: on call, teaching responsibilities, participate fully in surgeries and clinics. It is also expected that the fellow initiate and complete a research project for the 12-month period.
SickKids Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship does not participate in the SF Match (Residency & Fellowship matching services based in San Francisco). Rather, applications are reviewed on an individual basis. A salary of $85,564.01 CAD per annum. Canadian and health insurance are provided to offset living expenses, but the fellow is responsible for moving expenses and accommodation. There are a limited number of unfurnished suites available in an apartment building adjacent to the hospital.
Preference is given to applicants who have their National Board (USA) or Canadian Licensing Examination (LMCC) as well as those candidates who have secured a full time paediatric plastic surgery position in their home country but require further training. The MCCEE/MCCQE1 is not a mandatory requirement; however, applicants must have completed training in the same specialty discipline as their fellowship (Plastic Surgery) and be able to provide the official specialty certificate. Prospective clinical fellows must also be eligible for a work visa in Canada.** For more information for legibility please see https://pgme.utoronto.ca/applicants/apply-for-fellowship-training/
