Dr. Laura Snell is a member of the Division of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Her main clinical interest is in the reconstruction of oncologic ablative defects, particularly breast reconstruction. She is also interested in the surgical treatment of patients diagnosed with melanoma. Dr. Snell is a graduate of the Plastic Surgery Residency Program at the University of Toronto. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2008. At the conclusion of her residency program, Dr. Snell was awarded the prestigious Ross Tilley Scholarship for plastic and reconstructive surgery by the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2008. Following residency, Dr. Snell pursued a two year long Microvascular and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. During this fellowship, Dr. Snell also completed a Master of Science in Biostatistics at Columbia University. She is currently the Lead for Diversity and Inclusion for the Department of Surgery at Sunnybrook, and the Co-Director of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Program in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto. She also has an interest in surgical simulation in microsurgical education and has recently created a teaching model for the plastic surgery residents in the simulation centre at Sunnybrook.
