Dr. Gordon graduated from the University of Toronto in 1926 after serving in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in World War II, he returned to Toronto to become the Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Toronto General Hospital and the first head of the University of Toronto training program in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
He was instrumental in establishing the fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and was the first president of the Plastic Surgery Committee of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He served as the first examiner for the College from 1947 to 1957. He performed a wide variety of clinical research ranging from devising prosthetic devices for the temporo-mandibular joint to understanding the pathophysiology of Dupuytren’s disease.
