Dr. Moore received her undergraduate degree from University of Richmond and her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. She completed her Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency at Washington University School of Medicine where she dedicated an additional two years as a Peripheral Nerve Research Fellow. Dr. Moore then completed Mayo Clinic’s Orthopedic Hand Fellowship in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Moore’s first faculty appointment was at Washington University School of Medicine, where she was the Program Director of the Hand, Nerve and Microsurgery Fellowship and Chief of the Section of Hand Surgery and Trauma.
Dr. Moore currently is Professor and Chair of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where she holds the Robert L. Ruberg MD Alumni Endowed Chair. Dr. Moore is an international renown peripheral nerve surgeon focusing on restoring upper and lower extremity function in adults and children. As a committed surgeon-scientist, she has developed a parallel research program with currently more than $5 million in funding from the Department of Defense (DoD). She has extensively published her clinical and translational research findings with over 100 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and chapters.
A passionate educator and a tireless advocate for her mentees, Dr. Moore has given hundreds of invited talks at conferences around the world and has been an invited visiting professor at national and international centers. She has won numerous teaching awards over the years and has been a committed mentor for the American Medical Women’s Association and American College of Surgeons Women in Surgery. Dr. Moore has had the honor to be the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH)’s Plastic Surgery Visiting Professor, the Plastic Surgery Foundation (PSF) Visiting Professor and was awarded the ASSH Sterling Bunnell Traveling Fellowship in 2019.
Dr. Moore’s dedication to her field is manifested in her service and leadership roles on national and international associations and boards including the American Association of Hand Surgery, (AAHS) the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the ASSH, the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, American Society for Peripheral Nerve (ASPN) and the AAHS. She currently serves as treasurer of PSRC and Vice President of the ASPN. She is also a Board Examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Committed to the tripartite mission of clinical excellence, research and education, Dr. Moore is a passionate about leading her department and supporting her team’s success in education future generations and providing safe and innovative Plastic Surgery.
